Mississippi Lime Company Control Room Technician in Calera, Alabama

Overview

The purpose of this position is to manage the quality and production of the rotary lime kiln and hydrator in a safe and efficient manner. The Control Room Technician also monitors quality by performing various lab testing on the product.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in an industrial environment required.

  • Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Chemistry and Thermo processes. Knowledge of product handling equipment is required. Basic electrical, mechanical maintenance, Microsoft Office including Word and Excel also required.

  • Skills: Basic computer and strong communication skills required.

  • Abilities: Work overtime as needed and respond to call-ins to work when the plant requires.

  • Behaviors: Individual must be self-motivated and have initiative to work as an empowered team with on-site employees to operate a safe and efficient plant, maximize production and reduce costs.

    Essential Functions

  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Operates computer-controlled processes.

  • Assures that product meets quality standards by controlling processes and by performing required quality tests and utilizing SPC and TQM techniques obtained through on-going training. Obtain samples as needed.

  • Maintains equipment through preventive maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair work.

  • Assists maintenance in projects, equipment repair/troubleshooting, etc. as required.

  • Adjust the process to efficiently meet product demand.

  • Direct Process Attendant to solve the issue at hand.

  • Operate stone crushing system as needed.

  • Direct process activities while coordinating with Shift Supervisor.

  • Operate hydrator as needed.

  • Troubleshoot process problems and implement process improvements.

  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays.

  • Must be willing to work independently and under minimal supervision at times.

  • Must be able to climb stairs & ladders and not have a fear of heights.

  • Be able to work around water and not have a fear of water.

  • Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
